2011 branch and coodinate system

I just downloaded 2011 branch and spent about one hour with the code and already have a question.

In SL4, to converts between different units (geographic, logical, and pixel) the CoordHelper property of the Map was used which left the door open for changing the coordinate system from Mercator.

in 2011, the static member of CoordinateTransformation class is used for transformation.

Does this mean that DeepEarth is locked to use Mercator only forever?
