'Staging' on Display

Oct 22, 2008 at 1:14 PM
Hey all - nice work.

Can somebody tell me why the application has the word 'Staging" displayed in several places when its being  used.  Is this a MS thing?

it is pulling the map tiles from their "Staging" server, the access you get for development
when you buy a licence you could access the real map tile server and you would not have "staging" on the map tiles

I meant a licence for the Virtual Earth Map Tile server...

look at the "osm" version which is a free map tile server and it has no "Staging" printed on it, there is also the "osm" project setup in the "Examples" folder if you download the latest source code for the project

Ok, thanks dotnetnoobie.  BTW, glad you're on the team now.  For a couple months there seemed like you were the presence on the list - you've been a tremendous  help....

dotnetnoobie has done an awesome job at answering peoples questions here, great work.
This project is all about people learning some silverlight and creating something pretty cool and useful. If anyone wants to contribute, take the time to run up the source, watch the 40min of videos if you like, find a task and if you can do it just message me and I'll add you to the project.

dotnetnoobie is spot on about the staging labels. I have sent an email to Microsoft asking if we could get a production key for the demo site. I think it looks less then average to have staging everywhere for a demo.
